Lamptacular!

As I mentioned before – I love me some spray paint. It can fix a multitude of sins and ugly.

Well, helllllo ugly!

Two toned and a busy shape? Really? REALLY? Gold and black? Seriously? Whatever…

I found this beauty at my local Goodwill for just $12 (which is a steal considering that I see plain lamp bases for $50+ all. the. time.). I initially bought a ceramic lamp even though I was eyeing this girl something serious. For some strange reason I just couldn’t stop thinking about her after I left the store. There was something about the shape that I really liked that made me think it could be turned into a really cool lamp. You know, with the help of some SPRAY PAINT!!! So I rushed back to the Goodwill the next day, and sure enough, there she still sat (shocker!).

After debating what room this lovely was going to land in and what color it should be, I went digging thru my spray paint stash.

dig dig dig…Valspar primer! Sweet!

dig dig dig…Rustoleum white paint enamel. Check!

dig dig dig…Valspar acrylic top coat! Awesomesauce!

Enter two coats of primer!

Looks better already, right?! I knew this lamp had great bones when I laid eyes on it! (And, no…I don’t spray paint indoors! I just don’t like to leave my projects outside to dry when I know the marine layer is going to move in soon. Therefore it dried indoors in my “drying room” – aka my second bathroom).

Three coats of white paint, a couple of thin clear top coats, a few days drying in the bathroom and BAM!!!

Okay! Here she is with her new Target lampshade!

Here – look at her with all of her friends on top of the Hi-Fi (yeah, I said Hi-Fi!).

I’m sooooo happy with how this came out!

What a differences some spray paint and a new lamp shade can make, right?!
